Complete guide to using Vlogger Studio

Welcome to Vlogger Studio, the app that turns your smartphone into a YouTube live streaming studio. This guide walks you through every feature — from signing up to going live.

1. Getting Started

1.1 Creating an Account

When you first open Vlogger Studio, you'll see the Welcome screen with several sign-in options:

  • Continue with Google — Sign in with your Google account (recommended if you plan to use the same Google account for YouTube).
  • Sign in with Apple — Use Face ID / Touch ID for quick, private authentication.
  • Create Account — Sign up with your email address and a password.
  • Sign In — Already have an account? Tap here.

Email Sign-Up

  1. Tap Create Account.
  2. Enter your Display Name, Email, Password (6+ characters), and Confirm Password.
  3. Tap Create Account.

1.2 Verifying Your Email

After signing up with email, you'll need to verify your email address:

  1. Check your inbox (and spam/junk folder) for a verification email.
  2. Tap the verification link in the email.
  3. Return to the app and tap I've Verified My Email.
  4. If you didn't receive the email, tap Resend Verification Email (available every 60 seconds).

1.3 Accepting Terms of Service

Before using the app, you must:

  1. Read and agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
  2. Confirm that you are at least 18 years old.
  3. Tap Accept & Continue to proceed to the Live Control Center.

2. Linking Your YouTube Account

To stream on YouTube, you need to connect your YouTube channel.

How to Link

  1. From the Live Control Center, tap the Link YouTube Account card.
  2. Tap Link YouTube Account on the next screen.
  3. You'll be taken to a Google sign-in page — sign in with the Google account that owns your YouTube channel.
  4. Grant Vlogger Studio permission to manage your YouTube live streams.
  5. Once linked, you'll see your channel name and live streaming status.

What Permissions Are Needed?

Vlogger Studio requests the youtube.force-ssl scope, which allows:

  • Reading your channel info
  • Creating and managing live broadcasts
  • Creating and managing live streams

Unlinking Your Account

If you need to disconnect your YouTube channel:

  1. Go to Live Control Center tap the link icon next to your channel name.
  2. Scroll down and tap Delink YouTube Account (red button).
  3. Confirm in the dialog. Your OAuth token will be revoked and your channel disconnected.

3. Enabling YouTube Live

YouTube requires new channels to verify before live streaming is available. This can take up to 24 hours.

Checking Your Status

  • On the Live Control Center, look for the status badge:
  • Live Enabled (green) — You're ready to stream!
  • Live Not Enabled — Activation is still pending.

How to Enable

  1. Tap Enable in YouTube Studio on the Live Control Center or the Link YouTube screen. This opens YouTube Studio in your browser.
  2. Alternatively, go to the Enable Live screen and tap Verify on YouTube to open YouTube's verification page.
  3. Follow YouTube's instructions to verify your identity (usually requires a phone number).
  4. Wait up to 24 hours for activation.
  5. Pull down to refresh or tap Refresh Status to check if it's ready.

4. Creating a Live Stream

Once YouTube Live is enabled:

  1. Tap Create Live Stream on the Live Control Center.
  2. Fill in the stream details:
Field Description
Title Your stream title (required).
Description Optional description shown on YouTube.
Thumbnail Choose Auto-generate (YouTube creates one) or Custom (pick from your photo library, 16:9 crop, max 1.5 MB).
Privacy Public (everyone can see), Unlisted (only people with the link), or Private (only you). Default: Private.
Schedule When your stream should start. Default: 5 minutes from now.
Made for Kids Required by YouTube — select Yes or No.
  1. Tap Create Stream. The app will create both a YouTube broadcast and an RTMP stream, then return you to the Live Control Center.

5. Managing Your Streams

The Live Control Center

This is your home screen. It shows:

  • Active & Upcoming — Streams that are scheduled, testing, or currently live. Tap any stream to view its details.
  • Completed — Past streams. You can tap Watch on YouTube to view the recording.

Pull down to refresh the stream list at any time.

Broadcast Detail Screen

Tap any stream to see:

  • Stream title, description, status, and scheduled time.
  • Stream Settings — Privacy status.
  • RTMP Details — Server URL and Stream key (tap to copy).
  • Share — Share the YouTube link, copy it, or open it in YouTube.
  • Start Streaming — Opens the full-screen streaming camera.

You can tap the edit icon (pencil) to modify the stream.

6. Going Live — The RTMP Streaming Screen

This is the full-screen camera view where you actually broadcast.

Starting a Stream

  1. From the Broadcast Detail, tap Start Streaming.
  2. The camera preview fills the screen. Tap anywhere to show/hide controls.
  3. Tap the record button (red circle inside a white ring) to begin streaming.
  4. The app automatically handles the YouTube go-live process:
  5. Connects to YouTube's ingest server
  6. Waits for the stream to become active
  7. Transitions from "testing" "live" automatically

On-Screen Controls

Top Bar: - Back arrow — return to broadcast detail (stops streaming if active) - Stream title - Network status — Wi-Fi, Cellular, or Offline indicator - LIVE badge — appears when your broadcast is live on YouTube

Quick Controls (horizontal bar in portrait, vertical in landscape):

  • Camera Flip — Switch between front and back camera
  • Torch — Toggle flashlight (back camera only)
  • Mute — Mute/unmute microphone
  • Zoom — Zoom in (+) and out (−), range: 1.0x to 5.0x

Record Button: - Red circle = ready to start - Red square = streaming (tap to stop)

Settings (gear icon) — opens a menu with:

Option Description
RTMPS Toggle secure RTMP streaming (on/off)
Show Ingest Info Display the RTMP URL and stream key on screen
Backup Ingest Switch to YouTube's backup ingest server
Orientation Lock Lock screen rotation while streaming
Resolution Change resolution (480p–4K). Cannot be changed while actively streaming.
Audio Input Choose between available audio inputs

Stopping a Stream

  1. Tap the record button (red square) to stop streaming.
  2. The app will transition your YouTube broadcast to "complete."
  3. You'll see a "Stream ended" notice. To stream again, create a new broadcast.

Tips for a Great Stream

  • Use Wi-Fi whenever possible for the most reliable connection.
  • The app will warn you if your network speed may be too slow for the selected resolution.
  • Higher resolutions (1080p, 2K, 4K) need faster upload speeds. If your connection is unstable, try 720p or 480p.
  • The screen stays awake automatically while streaming.
  • Orientation lock prevents accidental rotation during a stream.

7. Editing a Stream

You can edit a stream before or during its lifecycle:

  1. From the Broadcast Detail screen, tap the edit icon (pencil).
  2. You can modify:
  3. Title, description
  4. Thumbnail (auto-generate or custom)
  5. Privacy (public / unlisted / private)
  6. Scheduled start time
  7. Auto Start and Auto Stop behavior
  8. Made for kids setting
  9. Tap Save Changes.

Note: Completed streams cannot be edited.

8. App Settings

Access settings from the gear icon on any screen or from the Live Control Center header.

Video

Setting Options Default Description
Default Resolution 480p, 720p, 1080p, 2K, 4K 720p Resolution used for new streams. Options not supported by your device will be grayed out.

Support

9. Account Management

Signing Out

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap Sign Out at the bottom.
  3. Confirm when prompted. You'll be returned to the Welcome screen.

Deleting Your Account

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap Delete Account (in the Danger Zone).
  3. Confirm twice — this action is permanent.
  4. Your account and data will be deactivated and scheduled for deletion.

Contacting Support

  • From the app: Settings Contact Support (opens email).
  • From the Contact Us screen: fill in your name, email, subject, and message, then tap Send Message.
